At the heart of The Coating Lab is founder and operator Ryan — a dedicated professional with over a decade of hands-on experience in the automotive care industry. His journey began in 2014, applying ceramic coatings for some of Auckland's leading car dealerships, where his precision, work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail quickly set him apart.
Driven by a passion for excellence, Ryan has continuously invested in his craft and stayed at the forefront of industry innovation. In 2020, he became a certified installer for ONYX Coating — a globally recognised leader in automotive surface protection. A year later, he achieved certification from the International Detailing Association (IDA), joining a select group of detailers worldwide committed to best practices and professional standards.
In 2025, Ryan became a Gtechniq Accredited Applicator — one of a limited number of studios in New Zealand to hold this endorsement, enabling access to Gtechniq's full professional-grade coating range and manufacturer-backed warranties for clients.

Great job, great price, nice guy. We have a new Ev6 with mat paint. We met some one in a park who had, the same car and paint finish, he recommended them. We went on the recommendation as mat paint can be tricky and not everyone can work on it.
