Auckland's environment is hard on paintwork

Strong UV, salt air from the coast, bird droppings, sap, and constant rainfall — Auckland conditions actively degrade unprotected paintwork. A professionally applied graphene coating adds a chemically-bonded protective layer that resists environmental contamination, reduces oxidation, and dramatically simplifies maintenance. For vehicles where paint depth and gloss matter, graphene delivers a finish that standard ceramic coatings don't match.

Credentials that matter for graphene coating

Graphene coating performance depends entirely on who installs it and how. ONYX products are only available through certified applicators — and the quality of surface preparation determines whether a coating performs for 2 years or 9.

Every vehicle is processed inside our purpose-built Mt Wellington studio — not a driveway, not a shared space. Controlled temperature and humidity during application and curing are part of what makes a professional installation different from an over-the-counter kit.

Three packages. One right choice for your vehicle.

All packages include a full decontamination wash, paint inspection, and aftercare guidance. Paint correction is quoted separately based on condition — graphene coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so preparation is never optional.

Step 01

Paint inspection

We assess your paint condition under dedicated inspection lighting to determine what correction is needed before any coating work begins. You'll know exactly what's being done and why.

What happens on the day

Every vehicle follows the same four-stage process. There are no shortcuts — graphene coating is only as good as the surface it's applied to.

Step 02

Paint preparation

Chemical and clay bar treatment remove bonded contamination. Machine polishing follows to maximise clarity and ensure the coating bonds to a clean, refined surface.

Step 03

Graphene application

Coating is applied panel by panel inside our controlled Mt Wellington studio. Temperature, humidity, and technique all affect the result — this is why a controlled environment matters.

Step 04

Curing & aftercare

The coating is allowed to cure properly before delivery. You'll receive clear aftercare guidance covering the first wash, maintenance products, and how to get the best longevity from your specific coating.

Common questions about graphene coating

How much does graphene coating cost in Auckland?

Graphene Pro starts from $899, and Graphene Pure from $1,099. Pricing varies by vehicle size. Paint preparation is quoted separately based on your vehicle's condition — it's rarely skipped, because coating over contamination or defects seals them in permanently.

What makes graphene coating different from ceramic coating?

Both are high-performance, professionally applied coatings — but they're built around different strengths. Ceramic coating (our Gtechniq range) prioritises maximum hardness and ultra-hydrophobic water repellency. Graphene coating (our ONYX range) prioritises maximum paint depth and gloss clarity — the finish looks noticeably richer and deeper. If you're choosing based on appearance, graphene is the right conversation to have.

Is graphene coating worth it in Auckland's climate?

Yes. Auckland's combination of strong UV, coastal salt air, heavy rainfall, and organic contamination makes it one of the more demanding environments for paintwork in NZ. A graphene coating adds a hard, chemically bonded layer that resists oxidation, staining, and environmental fallout — and makes every wash easier. For vehicles where gloss and paint depth matter, the long-term result is difficult to achieve any other way.

Will graphene coating prevent scratches and stone chips?

Graphene coating improves resistance to fine swirl marks and light wash marring — but it won't stop deep scratches or stone chips. If physical impact protection is your priority, Paint Protection Film (PPF) is the right solution. Many customers combine PPF on high-impact areas with graphene coating over the full vehicle.

Why does paint preparation cost extra?

Graphene coating chemically bonds to your paint and seals in whatever condition the surface is in. Swirl marks, oxidation, water spots, and contamination beneath the coating will be locked in for the life of the product. Preparation — decontamination, clay, and machine polishing — ensures the coating bonds to a clean, corrected surface and delivers the depth and durability it's designed for.

Is a graphene coated car hard to maintain?

The opposite — maintenance becomes noticeably easier. Dirt and grime struggle to bond to a hydrophobic graphene surface, so washes take less time, less product, and less effort. Drying is faster. You'll also wash less often. We provide specific aftercare guidance for your coating at handover, covering first wash timing, recommended maintenance products, and what to avoid.

What's the difference between Graphene Pro and Graphene Pure?

Both are professional graphene-infused coatings from the ONYX range, and both deliver exceptional gloss depth and paint clarity. Graphene Pure is formulated for maximum durability and long-life performance — up to 9 years — making it the right choice for prestige vehicles and anything where you want the absolute best. Graphene Pro delivers the same premium graphene finish with 5 years' durability, and is the more common choice for quality-focused daily drivers.
